SOCIAL RELEVANCE MIRACLE IN CELL NO.7
Miracle in Cell No. 7 is a Korean movie, later on had its Philippine adaptation. It is a story of a mentally handicapped man who was accused of a crime that he didn’t do. Due to mental incapacity, he was not able to defend himself. He had a young daughter whom he loved so much, who later on became a lawyer to prove her dad’s innocence.
The social relevance in the film:
1. It is shown that justice is not served sometimes because of the lawyers.
2. Police may give an irrational treatment to people with disabilities.
3. Justice may not be served for those who are financially incapacitated.
4. Those who are mentally handicapped may not be able to speak the truth about themselves because others may not listen to them.
5. Power and authority are both often abused by those who have them.
6. Families who struggle financially may not be supported properly by the government.
7. Police authorities may be too comfortable that they may not know what’s happening inside the prison cell.
