The movie entitled Miracle in Cell no. 7 is about an intellectually disabled man who was accused of murdering and sexually harassing a young girl who happens to be in a secluded area where only a few people pass by.
The elements of the story:
- Plot- a man was falsely accused of murdering a young girl and was sent to prison. He then wants to see his daughter and take care of her.
- Conflict- The man named Yong Goo was falsely accused, being that he is unaware of his situation he wanted to see his daughter again just like the old times.
- Setting- mostly is in prison in Korea
- Resolution- after a few years of being imprisoned his daughter Ye Sung became a lawyer and fought to clear her father’s name.
- Main Characters:
- Ye Sung- the daughter of Yong Goo who later on became a lawyer
- Yong Goo- an intellectually disabled man who loved his daughter
The man in the movie Miracle in Cell No. 7. was named Yong goo he was somewhat in his 40’s, he lives in a small room together with her daughter Ye Sung. They are living a normal peaceful life with him trying to work various jobs in order to sustain their living expenses and his daughter attending a school like any other normal young girl.
They both have a very close relationship as father and daughter they would often joke around and care for each other at most times. And they have this usual thing they do, they look in a store window and admires a particular brand of a bag which Ye Sung wanted someday.
Knowing this fact, when Yong Goo had received his salary from the one job he intends to buy that bag his daughter wants. But the last piece was then sold to someone else, it made Yong Goo follow a young girl who happens to see another bag that he wanted for his daughter. But that young girl slipped on wet ice, witnessing this Yong Goo tries to perform first aid on the young girl but came out as an offender.
He was sent to prison and was forced to stay in a cell where other detainees live. Each has their own crime but later on, they began to be fond of each other and be friends. Yong Goo who was imprisoned wanted to see her daughter and so is his daughter. They manage to find a way for them to reunite the father and daughter. They spent time with each other together with the other prisoners.
But Yong Goo’s criminal case still took place and convicting him into a more guilty position. Yong Goo was punished for the crime he didn’t do and left Ye sung without his father. She was then adopted by the police who admitted Yong Goo and was raised to be a fine lawyer.
Ye Sung, therefore, opens his father’s case again and clearing his name and thus freeing him of the title of a criminal till his last days. Thus concluding the title Miracle in Cell No. 7.
